Etsy Fees, Answered

How much does Etsy take per sale?

For a US seller, Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the full order total (item price plus the shipping you charge), and Etsy Payments processing of 3% + $0.25. That lands around 11-12% of the order. If the sale came through Offsite Ads, add another 12% or 15%.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. Since 2018 the 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge the buyer as well as the item price, and payment processing is calculated on the full order total. Free shipping does not avoid the fee — it just moves the cost into the item price.

What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee?

When Etsy advertises your listing on Google, Meta or other external platforms and that ad leads to a sale, Etsy bills 15% of the order, or 12% if your shop has made over $10,000 in the last 365 days. Shops over that threshold cannot opt out.

Is it cheaper to sell on your own store than on Etsy?

Per order, usually yes: on your own Shopify store you pay payment processing (about 2.9% + $0.30) and no listing or transaction fee. The trade-off is that Etsy brings its own buyer traffic, while your own store means you pay for marketing instead. Most sellers run both and use the store for repeat customers.

Are these fee rates current?

The calculator ships with current US default rates, and every fee field is editable — if you sell from another country, use a different payment processor, or Etsy changes its pricing, adjust the inputs to match your own seller account.
